Bulletin européen

The Bulletin européen, founded by Professor Iosif Constantin Dragan on 15th March 1950 takes is inspiration from the European Movement, which then boasted among its honorary presidents Léon Blum, Winston Churchill, Alcide De Gasperi and Paul-Henry Spaak. It is one of the earliest free forums for Europeanism, tirelessly promoting from its pages the idea of a United Europe inclusive of Central and Eastern European countries. Ever since its first publication Bulletin européen was distributed in several European countries and sent to libraries, organizations, cultural institutes and scholars with an interest in European issues. It is a monthly publication originally published in French and, since 1987, also in Italian. The Bulletin européen, which appeared in print sometime before the historical Declaration by Schuman (9th May 1950), was ahead of its times on information and dealing with issues of integration and the building of Europe. The first leading article to appear on Bulletin européen, À nos amis européens, explained that the review was created to contribute to building “a new Europe, a united Europe, the Europe of the future”. It was a modest contribution to build a European conscience, “but … inspired by objectivity, simplicity and clarity”. |
